Description

Saint Hedwig
1174-1243
Festivity on October 16.
Santa Eduvigis, Santa Milagrosa!

He born in Bavaria, in Germany today, in the year 1174 and
died on October 15, 1243 in Trebnitz. St. Hedwig
Duchess of Silesia, was the daughter of Berthold IV, Governor of Tyrol
and his wife Agnes. She was the aunt of another great saint, Isabella of Hungary.

He married Duke Henry of Silesia and had seven children.
The duke and his wife founded many monasteries, propagating religious life ..
Among the monasteries founded by the Dukes, the best known are the
Canons of St. Augustine, the Dominicans and the Franciscans. Enrique also
founded the Hospital of the Holy Cross in Breslau, and St. Hedwig, a hospital
for lepers in Neumarkt where he usedpersonally attend to the sick.
Both Eduviges and Enrique had a pious and humble life,
with a great zeal for religion, helping the poor. St. Hedwig walked
barefoot even in winter the streets, feet cracked by snow,
doing penance.

I give all his wealth to the Church and to the poor.
