Saint Nicholas of Bari, also known as Saint Nicholas of Myra, is a revered figure in Christianity, especially in the Eastern Orthodox and Catholic traditions. He is the patron saint of children, sailors, and travelers, and is widely recognized as the inspiration for the figure of Santa Claus. The “de Bari” part of his name refers to the city of Bari in Italy, where his relics were moved to in the 11th century.
